2012 Garbage Amnesty Day

Saturday, May 19, 2012 – 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Spring is just around the corner and there is no time like the present to get cleaning and organizing the basement, garage and your yard.

Garbage items NOT accepted:  Tires, refrigerators paint, household chemicals, propane tanks, car batteries, glass, liquids and large furniture.

E-cycle Electronic items accepted: Desktops, notebooks, printers, scanners, copiers, fax, keyboards, mouse, CD/DVD ROM, TV’s, servers, phone systems, monitors, software, switcher, routers & household batteries.

Metal Recycling accepted: Includes stoves, dishwashers, washers and dryers. Sorry NO REFRIGERATORS

2012 Spring Craft Fair

Saturday, May 26 from 9 AM– 3 PM

Best little craft fair in NE Calgary.  Local artists, crafters and home base businesses will be plentiful. Incredible framed photography, handcrafted jewelry, knitting, spices and so much more. Multi-Family Indoor Garage Sale

Saturday – June 23 (50% sold)     8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Saturday – July 21 (25% sold)       8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Tables are going fast.  Families are busy cleaning and purging for the Indoor Garage Sale.

Here’s how it works. We provide the location and do the advertising. You rent a table and bring your gently used toys, tools, clothes and household items to sell.  The sale goes rain or shine in a heated/air conditioned hall!  What a great way to make some extra money.

Tables are 6ft x 30 inch plus space behind and around your tables.  Anything you can carry and fit into your rented space has the potential of being sold. No large appliances, however you are welcome to bring photos.  No vendors, home based businesses, food products or baking.  Concession will be open for breakfast and lunch.

Table rent for each sale is $10.00 each or 2 for $15.00. Chairs will be provided. All unsold items must be removed from the premises at end of sale and cannot be disposed of in the community dumpster

The Jelly Bean Dance on February 10th is open to children in grades 1 through 6 – admission is $5.00 per child. The concession stand will be open for pizza, nachos, beverages and candy. Music provided by DJ Froggie. Doors open at 6:30.

Secondary Suites in Abbeydale

Annual General Meeting
Sunday, November 20, 2011
2:00 PM

Elections will take place at the Abbeydale AGM to fill vacant positions. Your association depends on your participation regarding important decisions in your community. All residents are invited to attend and are invited to fill the volunteer vacancies.

There will be discussions on the potential impact on the community as a result of Council’s amendments to the Land Use Bylaw as it pertains to Secondary Suites. This is a very important issue for many resident of Abbeydale and it is important for residents to understand the implications and also the requirements to comply with the Land Use Bylaw.

Executive positions (2 year term)

First Vice President – attends monthly/executive meetings, assists with decisions of day to day business, assists the President and the second Vice-President in the discharge of their duties.
Secretary – attends all meetings, keeps accurate minutes, correspondence and documents under the direction of the president, filing the Association’s annual return.

Director Positions (1 year term)

Abbey Director (Pub/Members Lounge) – manages supply, inventory, volunteer bartenders for members lounge.
Bingo Director – oversees bingo volunteers, manages bingo credits and payment
Casino Director– ensure submission of Casino application and solicits for volunteers every 18-24 months
Membership Director – participating in promotion of and sale of membership, maintains member records
Newsletter Director – creates monthly newsletter including community and paid advertisements, and arranges printing
Social Director – organizes member and community social events (community clean up, crafts fairs, stampede, appreciation dinner, breakfast with Santa, etc.)
Sports Director – organizes sports registrations, coordinates youth wind up gatherings
Maintenance Director – performs handyman duties, ensure safety of facilities, makes recommendations to board regarding upkeep of facilities and grounds

Membership

Residents of Abbeydale with a valid membership purchased by 2:00 PM November 18, 2011 are eligible to vote. To purchase an annual membership ($25.00) please contact 403-248-2229.

Breakfast with Santa – Saturday Dec 3, 2011

Community Association Members are invited to attend Breakfast with Santa. Your invitation includes
2 adults and your children or grandchildren who are 12 years of age and under. There will be a buffet
breakfast and eligible children will receive a gift and will have their picture taken with
Santa.

Members and eligible children who reside in Abbeydale attend for free. Members who reside outside of
Abbeydale a fee of $8.00 per eligible child will be charged in advance. When registering please include
your membership number, guest names, gender and age of eligible children. Additional guests for
breakfast will be charged $5.00 when registering, however gift and photo is not included.

Please RSVP with your membership number by November 18th, 2011 as seating is limited. Email
social@abbeydaleca.com or phone 403-681-5397 Mon-Fri. Gifts for children who are registered and
do not attend will be donated to a children’s charity. Memberships must be purchased by Nov 18, 2011
to attend this event. To purchase a membership call 403-248-2229.All children attending must be
accompanied by at least one parent or legal guardian.

Christmas Craft Fair – Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011

It’s the most wonderful time of the year when Abbeydale Community Association holds their annual
Christmas Craft Sale. This event boosts some very talented and crafty individuals and has been a
growing success. Pick up some unique gifts and some stocking stuffers for the kids and pets too. Fair will
be held Saturday, Nov 19, 2011 from 9 AM – 3 PM. Our concession will be open for breakfast & lunch.
Charity guests will be The Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) of Alberta who will be bringing crafts and
